Why, hello

Hey there, I’m Kelsey. Most days you can find me snuggled up to a book, exploring my new city, or rearranging our furniture and decor because I love change and pretty things. I am mostly known for over-researching all the things.

I love serving the world by sharing all the best resources for any problems that people might be struggling with. The things I am most passionate about in life are learning and growing as a person and debunking the myth that change isn’t possible. I write for women who are paralyzed by indecision, self-doubt, and insecurity and are yearning for a simpler, more meaningful life. I am so lucky to give them the gift of knowing that a meaningful and abundant life is actually possible by sharing my own journey.

  • we don’t have to second-guess our every decision
  • We don’t have to stay in the feelings of stalled or stuck
  • We don’t have to be afraid of handling our own money
  • we don’t have to feel powerless to change anything about our lives
  • we DO have the opportunity to choose a better life

My mission with this blog is to seek abundance, generosity, and confidence in life and report back to you, my readers. There are so many fun ways I do this. I share about the things that make me happy, try out ideas I learn from others and share how they went, talk about the books I’ve been reading, share what’s on my heart, tell about products I’ve found useful, and share what our life is like living in D.C.

I believe that we can live abundant, generous, confident lives.

When I’m not busy working on the blog, you can spot me

  • Exploring my new city with my husband Charles
  • Spoiling our rescue cat Reggie and any foster cat we’re caring for at the moment
  • Dreaming about buying a fixer-upper and adopting a puppy (not in that order or at the same time. But also, maybe in that order or at the same time)
  • Helping people edit their words to get their stories across better
  • Picking up a stack of books from the library
  • Grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s (they converted me)
  • At my day job as a Business Analyst in D.C.
  • Obsessing over all the plant life around here

I married the man of my dreams July 2017. We are currently sharing adventures together in Washington, D.C. We met in England ten years before we wed, and our story is about as romantic as you could imagine.

Our first furrbaby joined the family April 2019 and he’s quickly becoming the center of our home life. We don’t mind at all. His name is Reginald Watson Smythe but he says you can call him “Reggie.”

If you love becoming the best version of yourself, rethinking old ideas that aren’t working for you anymore, learning from people with great experience, making life pretty, and all around seeking out a meaningful and simple life, then you’re in the right place.

“There is something about words. In expert hands, manipulated deftly, they take you prisoner. Wind themselves around your limbs like spider silk, and when you are so enthralled you cannot move, they pierce your skin, enter your blood, numb your thoughts. Inside you they work their magic.”
